Tonya June Shaw
APRIL 14, 1935 – FEBRUARY 19, 2021

Tonya June Shaw, 85, of Longmont, Colorado passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

June was born on April 14, 1935 to Anthony and Thelma George in Springfield, Missouri. She grew up and attended school in Springfield, graduating from Senior High School in 1953. Shortly after graduating, she and a friend moved to Longmont, where she met Bob Shaw. They were married in the summer of 1955 in Springfield. June and Bob enjoyed 53 years together. They made their home in Erie, Colorado where they raised three sons: David, Patterson, and Doug. For most of her life, June was a homemaker. Bob and June moved to Longmont in 1989. She was a woman of faith and a member of LifeBridge Christian Church. June enjoyed many hobbies during her lifetime. She was an avid oil painter, taking many trips to learn her craft from the very best. She also loved baking and even experimented in the art of candy making. June loved working in her flower garden and making sure Bob kept her grass green. She spent a lot of time volunteering at Erie Elementary School, delivering Meals on Wheels, and playing the piano at First Christian Church in Longmont. June, along with Bob, enjoyed traveling the world with friends and family. One highlight of their trips included a camel ride in front of the Great Pyramids in Egypt. She enjoyed returning to Springfield often to attend class reunions, celebrate birthdays, and catch up with old friends.

June was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Thelma George, husband Bob Shaw, sister Helen Perkins, brothers Joe and David George.

June is survived by her sons David and wife Christine, Patterson and wife Kathy, Doug and wife Teresa; her grandchildren Brianna, Ashley (Peter), Cassandra (Shawn), Christopher, Sean, PJ, Elena, Madison, Charlie, and Haden; and her great-grandchildren Joseph, Vera, and Elsie.

June also had three very special grammar school friends with whom she kept in contact with in Springfield. Thank you to Leona, Janet, and Margaret. June cherished your lifelong friendships and all the fond memories.

The family would like to thank everyone who cared for June at AltaVita Assisted Living in Longmont. We truly believe her life was enhanced by the care you provided for her.
