SAN TAN VALLEY, Arizona — Charles (Chuck) F. Pobstman of San Tan Valley died at home on Feb. 18, 2021.
Chuck was born on April 22, 1941, in Rochelle, to Harold and Frances (nee Reed) Pobstman.
He graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1959. He was married on Feb. 11, 1961 to Cordelia (Corky) Hooper, daughter of James and Louise Hooper. Chuck served in the Marines from 1959 until 1965 and was stationed in Yuma, Arizona. Chuck and Corky moved to Phoenix and later Tempe, Gilbert and finally San Tan Valley. Chuck was a deputy sheriff for Maricopa County for 20 years and retired in 1984. He and Corky ran a custom butcher operation in his retirement. Chuck was a well-respected deputy with Maricopa County and was a member of the first Special Enforcement Squad, the predecessor to the current SWAT team. He and Corky were well known for entertaining at their home and for years held a July 4th party attended by many family and friends. Chuck loved dove hunting in his free time. His family and friends were the most important part of his life.
He is survived by his wife,Corky; their three sons, Chris (Tammy) Pobstman, Casey (Belinda) Pobstman and Cary (Tracy Taylor) Pobstman; their grandchildren, Joshua (Adrielle Fortier) Pobstman, Aimee (Justin) Csader, Justin (Britani) Pobstman, Jacob (Jordan) Pobstman, Andrew (May) Ferrell, Makayla (Jan Pidal) Ferrell, Abie Parra, Millie Cortez, Caitlin Pobstman (Josh Lavadah), Christen Pobstman, Charlee (Joshua) King, Mahlon Pobstman and Jaide Taylor and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Herrmann and Alice (Norman) McNeal; brother-in-law, James (Janet) Hooper, many nieces and nephews and special family friend, Vicky Zimmerman.
He was predeceased by his parents; his in-laws; brother and sister-in-law, Mahlon and Rita Mehling; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise and Reno Dall’Osto; sister, Elizabeth Pobstman; brother-in-law, Jack Herrmann; great-grandson, Rusty Pobstman and special family friend, Bill Zimmerman and family. He was loved and will be missed by all.
