Mary Ethel Snodgrass, of Rolla, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the age of 82. She was born in Butler, MO on November 22, 1938 to the late Evan Weyand and the late Lorine Jennings.
On December 30th, 1961, she married James Edward Snodgrass, who proceeded her in death.
Mary was a fraternity cook in the 70’s and early 80’s cooking at Lamba Chi Alpha and Delta Sigma Phi. She then joined the Rolla Post Office as a rural mail carrier; she retired after 20 years of service.
Mary was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on January 29th, 1966. Her love for Jehovah and doing his work was her greatest enjoyment. Perhaps she knocked on your door or mailed you a letter? She would always take every opportunity to witness to anyone who would listen. Mary was devoted to Jehovah, going to the Kingdom Hall rarely missing a meeting. This is where she found her love of the Chinese language and found love and support.
She always had a smile and a kind word. She always loved playing board games with her grandchildren when they came over to visit and treasured every second she got to spend with them. She was a true kid at heart with a great sense of humor. Her hobbies of knitting, quilting, and crocheting gave her a perfect past time to spend making things for others; what she truly loved to do.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister Patricia Roberson and two brothers Charles Weyland and Allen Weyand.
The love of her family and friends was greatly reflected back to her with support and kindness. She was and always will be a light of happiness and kindness to everyone who knew her and talked to her. Mary will be greatly missed by all her family and friends including three daughters and one son, Cindy D. Wagner and husband Robert of St. James, MO Sherry M. Lotzer and husband Richard of Rolla MO, Julie Jones of Monett, MO and Son Raymond J. Warren, grandchildren Brandon Thesing, Imari Pelfrey, Gabrelle Jones, Sebastian Jones, and Beverly Jones and one great grandchild Alex Thesing.
A memorial service celebrating Mary’s life will be conducted via zoom conference at 2 pm Sunday, March 7th, 2021. To attend e-mail [email protected] for login and password information. Memorial contributions are suggested to the local branch of Jehovah Witnesses
