Boise, Idaho - Gordon H. Williams was born January 23, 1934, in Cascade, Idaho, and passed away January 29, 2021, in Cascade, Idaho. He was 87. He is survived by his wife, Velma. His children Dee Gordon, Diana (Jim) Franks, Don (Diane) Williams, Dennis (Leslie) Williams, and Doreen Williams. Fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He received a Purple Heart while serving with the 1st Div. 2 BN, F27 in Korea. He served 22 years in the National Guard (2 yrs active), Marine Corps (4 yrs), and US Army (16 yrs). He was in the Dominican Republic conflict and 2 tours in Vietnam. Gordon helped write the bill authorizing the Idaho "Combat Wounded Purple Heart" license plate. Gordon and Velma volunteer for many years for the VA Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. Because of his volunteer work at the VA he spoke out against the unnecessary danger military veterans faced in combat.
