Carolyn Kirkpatrick Whitley Hornbuckle passed away February 13, 2021 in Vacaville, CA. She was born in Dallas on January 9th, 1937 during a snowstorm. Her parents, James Randolph and Christine Kirkpatrick, raised this adventurous young lady until she graduated from Denton High School in 1955. She stayed close to home while attending Texas Woman's University and earned her degree in Home Economics in 1959. Carolyn married Don Whitley on January 31, 1959 and had three children with him, Randolph, Donald Jr. and Christine. She pursued an early education degree and taught kindergarten in Frisco, TX, remarrying in June 1975 to John A. Hornbuckle. The couple moved to South Bend, IN where she taught preschool in neighboring Mishawaka. She became an active member in the People of Praise Community and at the St. James Episcopal Church. Many years later, she and John moved to Fairfax, VA, where she again dedicated herself to early childhood education and to her brothers and sisters in Christ. In the later portion of her life, Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren while living in Chicago, IL and Fairfield, CA.
