Obituary for James "Hub" Cody
James “Hub” Cody, age 83, of Rose Creek, ran into Heaven pain free on Monday, February 22, 2021. He was born in Morrilton, October 2, 1937 to the late Cleve and Celestia (Robinson) Cody. Hub was a Christian who loved God, his family, cattle farming and hunting. He worked for 38 years as a sod farmer along with his brothers on Cody Brothers Grass Farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, JJ (Anna) Cody and three sisters, Ruby (Joseph) Hubbard, Alice (Don) Hubbard and Mazie (Wesley) Schimmel.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Jones Cody of Rose Creek; two daughters, Jeanenne (Ernie) Cook and Penny (Rocky) Vess; one son, James Harold Cody, all of Rose Creek; two sisters, Viva (Dewayne) Brixey of Bryants Cove and Jean (Jim) Selvey of Pontoon; and one brother, Ewell (Wanda) Cody of Rose Creek.
He was Papaw to eight grandkids, DeAnn (John) McGrew of Conway, ReAnna McGrew of Rose Creek, Tiffany Kilburn of Russellville, AJ Cody, Josh (Lindsey) Pitts of Conway, Blake (Kristen) Pitts of Oppelo, Evan (Halley) Vess of Harrisonburg, Virigina and Colton Vess of Rose Creek. He was also blessed with eleven great grandkids and one new great grandson on the way.
Services will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Hamilton Cemetery on Rose Creek with Bro. Gene Tanner and Bro. Geno Johnston officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. with service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be John McGrew, Josh Pitts, Blake Pitts, Colton Vess, Brady Fowler, Lex Harwell and Briar Cody.
