Don P. Jones, age 89, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, Wednesday, February 17, 2021. He was born in Chesterfield, SC, son of the late Croft and Lana Melton Jones. He graduated from Chesterfield High School and the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!). He retired from Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, he was a dedicated Pharmacist and loved his work. He was a US Army Veteran having served his country during the Korean War. His church home was Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved siblings: Brothers, JD, Glen, Rembert and Croft Jr., and Sister Inez Marinucci. Tragically his first grandchild, Josh Jones was killed in an accident in March of 2020.
He is survived by his Son Ronald Phillip Jones (spouse Sharon) of Concord, NC, Daughter Donna Jones Boyar (Spouse Scott) of Charlotte, NC with whom he lived with for the past 5 years. Grandchildren, Travis Jones of Concord, Jake Boyar of Charlotte, Erica Devine (Matt) of Howell, NJ, Nicole Boyar of NYC, Nieces, Becky Morrow (Lee) of Stow, Ohio, and Louise Marinucci of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Leba Jones (sister-in-law) of Chesterfield, SC. He is also survived by his ex-wife Shirley Clarke, who lovingly cared for him in the home over the past 5 years and to his passing, though they could not stay married, they never lost love and care for each other.
A Private Graveside Service will be Saturday, February 27th, at Douglas Mill Cemetery, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211 or to Douglas Mill Cemetery Association, 1925 Douglas Mill Rd., Chesterfield, SC 29709.
