Canton-Helen Eva Pope Green Foster, 96, a resident of Arrowhead Cove, at Silver Bluff Village in Canton, went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 22, 2021, following a stroke.

She was born January 25, 1925, the third of nine children born to Francis Wesley and Floy Clontz Pope. She grew up in the Dutch Cove Community, attending Morning Star Elementary and Canton High School. She was a homemaker who also worked a number of years at the former Champion Papers. Helen loved to travel, attend events for seniors in her later years, and enjoyed time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 46 years, James Reeves "Jim" Green; her second husband, Horace Foster, and a special companion, G.C. Watts; her sons Garry and Billy Joe Green; a grandson, Steven Green; a daughter-in-law Ruby Green; 5 brothers: LG, Glenn, Earl, Charles, and Robert Pope; and a sister, Hilda "Sissy" Pope.

She is survived by her brother Frank Pope and wife Carolyn of Candler, a sister, Nancy Pressley and husband Wade of Canton; two daughters-in-law, Julia Green, and Wanda Green; a stepdaughter, Janet Jenkins and husband David; three grandchildren, Mary Helen Welch (Boone), Melody Dill (Charles), and Duane Green; 3 great-grandchildren; two sisters in law, Betty Pope of Canton and Helen Pope of Hephzibah, Ga., and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins, and many special friends, as well as her church family at High Street Baptist Church of Canton, where she was a member
The family would like to express their appreciation to all the caregivers and staff of Arrowhead Cove for their excellent care of Helen for the last several months.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 26, 2021 at High Street Baptist Church in Canton with the Rev. Chris Willett officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church beginning one hour prior to the funeral service.

Due to Covid-19, masks are requested and social distancing will be observed.

Interment will follow at Old Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Clyde, NC.
