Juanita Williams-Buckles
OCTOBER 13, 1938 – FEBRUARY 18, 2021

Sunrise on October 13,1938 for Juanita Williams – Buckles to Etta Moton and James Williams in Vidalia, Louisiana. She relocated to Helena, Arkansas with her Mother and sister, the late Pearl Mae Williams-Brooks, who has preceded her in death February 25, 1986.

Mrs Etta met her husband Reverend Joseph Samuel Jefferson, and they were joined in union in which nine siblings were added to the family.

Juanita relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1952 with her family. Mrs. Etta Jefferson, Rev Joseph S. Jefferson, sisters Pearl, Lee Doris, and JoEtta, as well as her brother Frank.

She attended School in the Clark County School District of Southern Nevada. She was the first Black female drummer at Madison Elementary School of West Las Vegas in the early ‘50s.

She accepted Christ at an early age and grew her faith under the leadership of her Stepfather, Reverend Joseph S. Jefferson Second Baptist Church.

She graduated from Las Vegas High School and went on to pursue further education at Dana Business School. Juanita met and married Larry Waters and started her family by adding four children to the union, Bobby Alexander Williams, Arnold Williams, Sherrona Renee Williams, and Gayla Williams.

She met and later Married Mr. Louis D. Buckles on April 26, 1992, who had three children of his own from a previous marriage Sharon, Larry, and Brandon. Mr. Louis Buckles passed away on October 17, 2016

She has worked in several entities in the Las Vegas areas of employment until finally landing and eventually retiring from Clark County Juvenile Courts working her way up to the title of Senior Investigator for Child Protective Services in which she retired after 30 years in 2000.

She was preceded in death by seven of her siblings, Pearl, Lee Doris, Jacqueline, Frank, Samuel, Ezra, Benjamin, and Printiss and one nephew Glen D. Jefferson. Her surviving siblings are Joetta Jefferson of Las Vegas, John L. Jefferson of Hawthorn, California and Willie Lee Jefferson of Carson City, Nevada.

Juanita Williams-Buckles leaves to morn her Sister Ms. JoEtta Jefferson and her Brothers Mr. John L. Jefferson and Willie L. Jefferson also her three children Arnold Williams, spouse (Irma J. Williams) Sherrona Renee Williams, of Las Vegas and Gayla D. Buchanan of Montgomery, Alabama also Ms. Tiffany Shorter who she considered to be her special Daughter.

Her grandchildren Tamika Gay, Alvina Williams, Gladys Williams, Arnold Williams II, Anthony James Williams, Crystal Williams, Armond. Brown, Spouse (Joy Connor) Ja’Mesha Sinclair, DeAnna Buchanan, Robert Buchanan II, Kyra Williams, Amanti Williams, Christian Williams, Malachi Williams, Arnold Williams III, Reginald Connor

Nieces and nephews Christina Teresa Jefferson, Spouse (Rueben) Lyshon N. Jefferson, who also acted as her personal assistant, Frances Jefferson, Ryhann Jefferson, Justin Jefferson, Spouse (Carrie Jefferson) Demedrick Jefferson, Crystle N. Williams and a host of great and great-great nieces, cousins and nephews residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, and various states such as Mississippi, Chicago, Louisiana etc. A long lifetime friend 0f 30 years Ms. Jackie Johnson.

A Visitation for Juanita will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

A Funeral service will occur Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Church of the Lord Jesus, 1260 Bartlett Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89106.

A Committal service will occur Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Palm Downtown Cemetery, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

A Burial will occur at Palm Mortuary - Downtown, 1325 North Main St, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.
