Andreas Lerch-The Lerch Family Patriarch in America
The Lerch and Laubach families emigrated together from Germany to America. Their villages in Germany were nine miles apart. The families were very close as several Lerch and Laubach family members intermarried there. They arrived at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 16, 1738, aboard the ship Queen Elizabeth. Their Captain was Alexander Hope. There were almost 400 passengers aboard ship for the transatlantic crossing from Deal England via Rotterdam, Holland. Andreas Lerch passed away shortly after landing in Philadelphia. The families eventually settled on farms less than a mile apart in Lower Saucon Township, Northampton County, Pa.
