Ron graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1966. He played football (all conference), basketball, and golf. In 1967 he joined a band called the XL’s. He also attended Indiana State University.
Ron was also a Vietnam War veteran. He served in the army from July 1968 through April 1971 with honorable discharge.
On December 23rd, 1979 he married the most important person to ever enter his life, Deb Tanner. They were married until Deb’s passing on May 2nd, 2008.
Ron was also preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and all of his aunts and uncles.
Surviving Ron is Amie Antes of Bloomington (Saoirse, Ella, and Elijah), Kevin Hicks of Fishers (Addison and Kaden), Lindsay Stevenson of Terre Haute (Dyllon and Xavier), and Austin Hicks of Terre Haute. He is also survived by brother Ed Vaughn and wife Karen, sister Linda Vaughn Gant, and brother Brent Hicks. Also survived by great granddaughter, Elowyn, daughter of Saoirse.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Highland Lawn Cemetery beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Larry Lilly will be officiating and military honors will be provided.
