Mrs. Mary Ruth Cothern Corbitt, 75 of Blackshear, passed away Saturday evening, February 20, 2021 at Memorial Satilla Hospital.

Born in Blackshear, GA on February 17, 1946, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and loved to listen to Jimmy Swaggart. Mary worked at King Edward Cigar for several years before retiring from United Egg. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking. Mary also enjoyed her time being a homemaker after retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Allen Corbitt; 3 sisters, Willie Mae Cothern, Velma Durrance, Darcile Altman; a brother; Buddy Cothern; and a grandson, Dusty Rhodes.

She is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda (Gary) McDuffie of Blackshear, Barbara “Bobbie” Joyner of Blackshear, Debra (David) Rhodes of Patterson; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Johnny (Betty) Cothern of Baxley, Ray Cothern of Patterson; 8 grandchildren, Amanda (Keith) Womack, Tanya (Philip) Roberson, Michael (Britany) McDuffie, Garrett McDuffie, Heather (Bubba) Holmes, Hank Joyner, Lindsey (Dustin) Thomas, Cody Rhodes; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Corbitt will be held Thursday afternoon, February 25, 2021, at 2:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Internment will be at the Laura Chapel Cemetery.

The family will also be receiving friends at the residence of her daughter, 7011 College Ave in Blackshear.
