John was the son of Matilda Fritz Reynolds and William Charles Reynolds. One of eight children, John lived in Mesilla, New Mexico. When John was nine years old, his Mother died and John and his brother Paul were sent to live with his Mother’s sister, Clara (Fritz) Reinken and her husband Henry, in Watrous New Mexico. John married Dorothy Mae Sutherland on June 20, 1927 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. John and Dorothy had five children, Patricia Clare, Shirley Mae, Joyce, Michael, and Robert Jerrald.
