Mary Lou Jones (June 23, 1920 – January 1, 2018) Mary Lou Jones passed away peacefully at the Masonic Home in Union City, California on January 1, 2018 at the age of 97. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Weldon, daughter Patricia and son Craig. Mary Lou is survived by grandchildren Michelle Hoffman of Paradise, Corey Farley of Clayton, Elizabeth Roberson of Redding, Brian Jones of Washington, Chelsea Jones of Utah, Briana Jones of Utah and nine great-grandchildren. Mary Lou Allen was born on June 23, 1920 in Telephone, Texas to Johnnie Jackson Allen and Eno Baker Allen. She and her family moved to Slayton, Texas in 1926 so her father could work on the railroad. She met her childhood sweetheart, Weldon T Jones, in the First Grade in Slayton in 1927. They started a lifelong relationship and married in 1941. Mary Lou and Weldon were married for 76 years. Weldon and Mary Lou were the co-owners and operators of Weldon’s Men’s Shop in Taft, California from 1959 until their retirement in 1985. Mary Lou and Weldon did not take a vacation for 26 years, as they worked six days a week at Weldon s Men s Shop. After retiring, they took three tours of Europe and the best of all for both was being invited to the WWII Memorial Ceremony in Washington, D.C. She was active in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts when her children were young, was a Past President of Soroptimist International and member for 18 years, a member of Community Concerts and she loved her monthly Bunco Club with her BFF Mary Binford. Mary Lou was dedicated to raising her family and working for the family business, Weldon’s Men’s Shop.
