He was born May 9, 1941 to John and Gretta Ritchie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gretta Ritchie; his loving wife, Patricia A. Ritchie; son, Lee Ritchie; daughter, Gwen Ambrose; and a brother, Bob Ritchie.
Hugh was born in Ireland and came to the U.S. in 1951. He joined the United States Navy in 1955…he loved the water. He sailed all over the world. Hugh also did four tours in Vietnam. After 20 years, he retired. He then became a truck driver along with his wife. After 30 years, he retired off the road. Hugh worked for Traylor Shavings for 17 years (then retired for good).
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Ambrose of Winslow; sons, Jerry and Floyd Chavious of Winslow and Samuel Ritchie of Ohio; grandson, Anthony Ritchie; and many other family like his sister, Rhoda Alameda of Idaho; plus lots of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Beard’s Chapel.
Funeral services will be 12:30 PM Friday, February 26, 2021 at Beard’s Chapel. Interment will follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
