Jimmy Lee Thomas, II, age 52, of Anderson, SC, devoted husband to Sandy Williamson Thomas for 33 years, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, February 19, 2021.
Born April 5, 1968, in Anderson, SC, he is the son of Juanita Barnes Thomas and the late Jimmy Lee Thomas.
Jimmy was a graduate of BHP, Class of 1986. He was a competitive athlete on the wrestling team and also played the saxophone in the band. He proudly served his country for 25 years with his band of brothers in the United States Army National Guard, B Battery 263rd. He honorably retired as a Master Sergeant. He followed in his Daddy’s footsteps working as a grading supervisor in construction.
Jimmy had a larger-than-life personality and never met a stranger. He enjoyed camping and the great outdoors having much of his knowledge from earning the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. He loved his family, grandchildren, and his friends. He was a member of Neals Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his loving wife, Sandy, and mother, Juanita, he is survived by his children, Kayla Thomas Stone (Blake), and Ben Thomas; sister, Mandy Kay (Jeff); brother-in-law, Matt Poore; three grandchildren, Emma, Blane, and Pruitt Stone; and his four-legged friends, Tucker and Fritz.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tippi Thomas Poore.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Neals Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Dorriety and Rev. Alex Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
