Son of Eursley Kelly Harmon and Emma Lyons Harmon. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant stationed at Cochran Field in Macon during World War II. While in Macon, he met and married Claudia Salter. He lived the majority of his life in Peach Count. He was a long-time member and Deacon of Tharpe Memorial Baptist Church which later became Cross Point Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Joyful Seniors Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Claudia Salter Harmon; daughter, Claudia Gail Hill; grandson, Andy Matthews; brothers, Vernon Harmon, Alfred Harmon, and Shelby Harmon; and sister, Hazel Spalding. He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Guynn (Bobby) of High Point, NC; sons, Jimmy Harmon, Jr. (Debra) and David Harmon - both of Eatonton; son-in-law, Phillip Hill of Eatonton; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Ronnie Harmon of Lebanon, KY.
