Frances Marie Nelson
1925 - 2021

Salem - Frances Marie Nelson, passed away peacefully, early Tuesday morning, in her home, on February 9, 2021 at the age of 96, surrounded by family in Salem, Oregon.

Fran was born in Boring, Oregon on February 5, 1925 and was one of three children born to Otto and Florence (Boardman) Boese. Her family were descendants of Oregon Trail Pioneers who settled off Barlow Road in the Sandy, Oregon area.

She lived in Seaside and Marylhurst, Oregon for a brief time before moving to Southern California in 1939. Fran met and married her first husband, Robert Lee Williams, in 1940 in San Diego, California. Daughter, Sharon was born in 1943 and Carol, in 1945. They moved to Salem, Oregon in 1953. In 1957, their son, James Robert, was born.

Fran was an active "Welcome Wagon" lady for many years and also worked at Meier and Frank in the candy department and housewares demonstrating Cuisinarts to keep her busy.

In 1970, Fran met the love of her life, James Nelson. Jim and Fran traveled the world, went on numerous cruises and wintered for 30 years in Mexico where they made many lifelong friends.

Fran had a great love for dancing, belonging to several dance clubs over the years. Her artistic eye brought joy to many with her beautiful paintings and colored penciled drawings. Her family were her "prized possession", she loved them almost as much as her chocolate and ice cream!

Always a very social lady, Fran enjoyed meeting friends at the Keizer Senior Center, to have lunch and play many competitive rounds of Bingo, as well as working in the gift shop.

After her husband, Jim passed, she moved briefly to Emerald Pointe in Keizer, before moving to South Salem, to be closer to family.

Fran is survived by her three children, Sharon Lee Hoevet and Carol Textrum, of Salem, and JR Williams of Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren, Eric Textrum, Leanna Smith and Lisa Fischer; seven great-grandchildren and one niece, Darlene Boese Boston, of Gresham. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; brother, Kenneth Edward and sister, Dorothy Lucille, who passed away at the age of 6.

The family would like to thank the amazing and loving care given to her by Lorraine, Marion, Tracey (Goldie), Jennifer, Cynthia and Marilyn. We would also like to thank the Willamette Valley Hospice employees, for all their grace and professionalism.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 26 at Belcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
