Colonel J. M. Brett

Meridian, Miss., March 25 - Colonel J. M. Brett, for the past quarter of a century an honored resident of Meridian, died at his home on Seventh street this morning from a complication of diseases incident to old age. He was 84 years of age and was a native of Ireland, emigrating to this country with his parents when only 6 years of age. He has been for twenty-five years land agent of the Mobile and Ohio Railroad, in which capacity he has served most faithfully. The funeral services will be held to-morrow morning. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery.
