Carol Ann Hunter, age 73, of Garfield, Ark., passed away Thurs., Feb. 11, 2021 from an acute myocardial arrythmia. She was born Sun., June 15, 1947, in Joplin, Mo. to Richard Wesley and Doreen Rose Kathleen (Osborne) Hoback of Bentonville, Ark.
Carol was born prematurely at 25 weeks, leaving her with lifelong health issues, as well as being a 21-year stage 4 breast cancer survivor.
Carol was a 1966 graduate of Bentonville [Ark.] High School and then lived with her maternal grandparents in London, England. After returning to the U.S., Carol married James Crowder, who was in the U.S. Navy; she moved with him to stations in WA., CA., FL., TX., and OH.
After settling in Bentonville, Ark., Carol worked for 44 years at the Walmart pharmaceutical warehouse for controlled substances. She retired in 2019 and held certifications from the Drug Enforcement and Food and Drug Administrations for handling and accountability of all schedule 1-4 drugs.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and former husband. She is survived by children James Robert Crowder, II of Springdale, Ark. and Melissa Ivie (Alex) and their daughter, Mary Beth, all of Huntsville, Ark. Also surviving are brothers Richard (Mei) of Pea Ridge, Ark., Ray (Trish) of Bella Vista, Ark., and Dale (Shirley) of Bentonville, Ark., and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation is by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 No. 4th St., Rogers, Ark. A private burial will be held at Barron Cemetery in Vaughn, Ark. in accordance with pandemic protocols. Online condolences to www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
