According to the book "History of Vernon County, Wisconsin" of 1884,John M. Goldrick, who lived northwest of Springville,operated a broom factory.Goldrick lost his sight in 1862 and learned the broom making trade at the Blind Institute in Janesville. He died in Tomah at the home of his daughter in 1901 and is buried at Springville.
