She also taught in the Pleasant Hill system. Betty was an accomplished pianist and over the years gave piano lessons to dozens of young people. The girls were attracted to her skills and reasonable rates, the boys more by her good looks. Betty married Robert Wood at Harrisonville April 23, 1948. Four children came to bless their lives. Robert W. II, Randol W., Richard W. and 9 1/2 years later Malissa Jane. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Richard Spencer Wood. In 1986 they moved back to Kansas City where Betty decided to enter the field of Real Estate sales which she pursued with her usual vigor, serving 1 year as President of the south chapter of the Kansas City Board of Realtors. She belonged to PEO chapter DB. During this time she volunteered at the Nelson Art Gallery for 18 years, continued playing bridge, tennis and swimming. She loved to travel and never met a trip she didn't like, having been to many countries in Europe, Greece and numerous trips to Mexico. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and eventually a great grandmother. Cremation with inurnment at Freeman, MO, at a later date.
