HOLMES - Charles, of Brightwaters, NY, passed away on February 16, 2021 at the age of 92. Mr. Holmes was an active member of the Bay Shore Fire Department for 72 years, having joined in 1948. He was born on March 24, 1928. Mr. Holmes was also an avid fisherman, and served as president of the Bay Shore Tuna Club. He is survived by his wife Nina, his daughter Lauralee and her husband David Bennett of Daytona Beach, FL, and his two grandsons, Neil Bennett and Drew Bennett, of Long Island. He is also survived by two sisters, Mickey Hrubes of Islip and Leola (Jo) Larsen of North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting will be Wednesday 2 to 4:30PM and 7 to 9PM at the Overton Funeral Home Inc, 172 Main Street in Islip. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 10am at St. Patrick's RC Church in Bay Shore. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Bay Shore. www.overtonfuneralhome.com
