Kenneth LeaVorn Hughes was born October 3, 1936 to Ernest and Willie May Blancet Hughes in Stamford, TX.
Kenneth spent his younger days doing what he loved, cowboying. In later life he worked in oil fields, was an auto mechanic, and custom harvester. Kenneth was one of the last of the western breed, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Kenneth was a Baptist.
Kenneth was 84 years old when he passed away on February 14, 2021.
Kenneth married Miss Anna Lois Copeland on December 5, 1952 in Stamford, TX.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Willa Mae Blancet Lindsey, father, Orville Stroud, step fathers, Ernest Hughes and Joe Lindsey, 1 sister Helen Moon, 2 brothers J.W., and Bill.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anna Lois Hughes; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Danny Derrick of Hawley; daughter, Sandra Carman of Abilene; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ricky Wedeking of Stamford; brother Preston Lindsey; 7 grandchildren Mindy Boatwright, Yulia Channell, Amy Baird, Kendra Carman, Racheal Cann, Colton Wedeking, and Haven Wedeking; 8 great children; 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, 807 Columbia, Stamford, TX with Rev. Larry Sullivan officiating. Private burial will be under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
