The first wife of Frederick Williams Baker was Thursey McCowan, born about 1863 in Tennessee. She appears to have died in Tennessee sometime between the birth of Thomas Allen Baker, who was born in 1860 after the June 1, 1860 enumeration date, and the early to middle part of 1862. Thursey shows up on the 1860 Tennessee census with F.W. and 2 children named George (age 5) and Vincent (age 1).

F.W. Baker then married his second wife, Sarah Elizabeth Long, on October 5, 1862, in Bradley county Tennessee. She was born Nov. 17, 1842, in Bradley county Tennessee.
