Elisabeth Schaeffer,daughter of Johann Henrich and Anna Maria Wirt Schaeffer, was born in Heidelberg Township, Berks County Pennsylvania,probably between 4 June 1791 and 31 July 1791. She was united in marriage with Christian Freehafer on 17 October 1809 in Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania (now Jackson Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania).

Elizabeth and Christian's children were John Freehafer, Maria Freehafer Hettinger, Augustus Freehafer, Anna Freehafer Bucher, Lucy Ann Freehafer Smith, Jonathan Freehafer and Michael Freehafer.

The 1860 Census lists Elizabeth, age 68, living in Worthington Twp, Richland County, Ohio, with her son Michael, daughter-in-law Rachel and grandchildren, Franklin, Hetta Ann, Lucinda and Emily Ellen. She was living in Huntington County, Indiana on 8 January 1866 when she signed with an X a quitclaim deed selling the land of her deceased husband, Christian Freehafer, to their son, Jonathan Freehafer.

Elizabeth died 24 July 1873, age 81 years 11 months 24 days and is buried at the Lininger Cemetery, Huntington County, Indiana
