Maxine J. Butler age 80, of Glidden, died on Friday November 15, 2019 at Mellen Manor Nursing Home in Mellen. She was born on August 5, 1939 in Glidden WI, the daughter of James and Lucille (Kritz) Bonney. Her schooling was at Most Precious Blood Catholic School and Glidden High School where she played saxophone in the school band. On June 28, 1958 she married her high school sweetheart Clifford C. Butler. The couple moved to Rosemont IL, where their children were born and raised. Maxine was involved with Girl Scouts, a Cub Scout Leader, Room Mother, tutor and children's and grandchildren's biggest sports fan and chauffer. She returned to Glidden after retirement with the promise that she could go on vacation every winter. Maxine was a bookkeeper for Bonney's Service Station, Schraufnagel Lumber, and Thorp Finance in Ashland before moving to Illinois where she worked as a bookkeeper at Butler Construction, the Danish Nursing Home of Chicago, Thomson Newspapers, Air Force Base at O'Hare Field, and for the US Fish and Wildlife Department. Maxine was a member of St. Ann's Sodality, TOPS, and the Red Hat Ladies. She enjoyed playing Bunco & Bingo, crossword puzzles, reading, sewing, painting ceramics, walking, bird watching, but most of all spending time with her family and friends. She also loved to travel as her and Cliff visited every state in the continent, several provinces in Canada and took several cruises to Alaska, Panama Canal, South America and many Caribbean Islands.
She was preceded in death by her parents and (2) sisters: by an infant sister June Ann and Linda Lu Bonney
Her brothers in law Frank Kempf, Frank Butler, Harold Butler, Dick Butler, George Butler, Roy Butler, Dave Nelson, Donald Kempf, and Pepe' Rose.
