A. Richard Butler, age 79, of Biglerville, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at his home.

He was born July 2, 1928 in New Oxford, a son of the late William H. and Anna (Mummert) Butler.

Mr. Butler was employed by Cadbury Beverages for 42 years before his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Arendtsville. He was also a member of American Legion Post 262 of Biglerville and VFW Post 15 of Gettysburg. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

His wife Shirley (Flickinger) Butler died in 2006.

He is survived by his three sisters, Anna Golden of Gettysburg, Loretta Sandoe of Biglerville, Leota Butler of Biglerville; two brothers, Loring Butler of Aspers, Marlin Butler of Florida and a number of nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville, where the family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22, 2007. Funeral services will be at Dugan Funeral Home Inc. at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22, 2007. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg.
