Pvt. Peacock served in Snow's Battery B 1st MD Light Artillery from 7 Nov. 1861 until 5 Dec. 1862 when he was discharged due to disability. He was wounded while serving on the 2nd peice during the Battle of Malvern Hill, Va., 1 July 1862 and languished in a Confederate prison with a terrible wound to his head after being struck severely by a piece of shell. A letter of 22 July 1862 from 1st Lt. L.A.C. Gerry of the batty indicates Peacock was held in Richmond, Va., taken there by truce boats. It is likely that he died there but was returned home for burial.
