SIERRA VISTA — Betty Lou Pearson, 81, of Sierra Vista died of cancer on February 6, 2021.
Betty’s parents, Henry and Irene Smith, were living at Leavenworth, Kansas, when she was born on February 24, 1939.
Richard Pearson (Rip) and Betty Smith were married at Leavenworth, Kansas, in April 1962.
Betty was working as a nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital when she met Rip. She had her first child, Richard, while living in Leavenworth; and went with Rip during his tour to Frankfurt, Germany, where she had Cynthia. After a time back in Leavenworth, another tour to Germany, where she had Steve in Stuttgart.
After a third tour to Munich, Germany, they moved to Woodbridge, Virginia, for four years. They finally moved to Fort Huachuca, then after five years to Sierra Vista.
Betty worked as a school nurse for many years, both on Ft. Huachuca and then in Sierra Vista. She still maintained friendships with coworkers even until now.
Betty was very social and loved having and going to dinner parties for most of her life. There were several memorial themes, such as a Christmas party in July for anyone she might have missed inviting or who could not make it to previous parties.
Betty loved opera and symphonies and even flew to California to see a showing of The Phantom of the Opera when she found the original cast was leaving the show.
Betty is survived by sons, Richard and Stephen (Karen); and three beloved grandchildren, Samuel and Matthew Pearson, and Renee Pulsipher.
She was preceded in death by husband Richard (Rip) Pearson, twin grandchildren Madison and Christopher Pearson, and daughter Cynthia Pulsipher.
