Shirley Mae Wagner, daughter of the late Waino & Mary (Severts) Walton was born June 27, 1936 at Middle River where she attended school and grew to womanhood. She married Harold Wagner on November 10, 1956 at Hope Baptist Church in Mpls. Shirley and Harold started their family there, and later moved to Crystal, Back to Middle River, Eden Prairie and finally settling in Forest Lake, MN. They moved to Zimmerman when most of their children had left home. Harold passed away in 1986 and Shirley moved to Arizona. She visited family in the summer and enjoyed having family visit her during the winter. Shirley liked to play cards, bingo and dice. She always stayed active and kept on going for walks even after moving to Memory Care in Fridley in 2015. Shirley struggled with dementia in her later years.
Shirley passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at White Pine Memory Care, Fridley, MN at the age of 84. She is survived by her children: Shonda (Darrell Hartung), Sheryl (Bruce Hindi), Jeff (Nancy) and Charlie (Michelle); six granddaughters and eight great grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Sharon) Walton, one sister in law, Jovenia Walton, and one brother-in-law, Norman (Shirley) Wagner; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Harold; two brothers, Earl and Wally; one sister, Marlene; one brother-in-law, Ted Perusse and one sister-in-law, Norma Walton.
Funeral services will be held Sat morning, February 20, 2021 at 10:00am at First Lutheran Church, Middle River, MN. Visitation for Shirley will be after 6:00pm Friday evening with a 7:00pm prayer service at Collins Funeral Home, Middle River, MN, and at the church one hour prior to services on Sat morning.
Burial will be in German Evangelical Cemetery.
