Evelyn Jean Wheeler, age 78, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Evelyn was born December 5, 1942 in Villisca, Iowa, the daughter of James Arthur and Dorothy (Sanford) Everett. She was raised near Nodaway, Iowa until moving to Red Oak where she graduated high school in 1961. Evelyn was united in marriage to Wayne Triplett on June 4, 1959 in Red Oak, Iowa. To this union, two children were born: Teresa and Kevin. She worked for many years at Union Carbide until Eveready Battery closed the plant. Evelyn then went to work for CDS Global until it closed and she retired. Evelyn was united in marriage to David Wheeler on June 20, 1992 in Villisca, Iowa. Evelyn enjoyed country music, going on trips to Branson, and playing cards. She was known to have a wonderful sense of humor.

Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers-in-law: Jay Wheeler and Ray Wheeler. Survivors include her husband David Wheeler of Red Oak, IA; children: Teresa Nelson and husband Jeff of Red Oak, IA and Kevin Triplett of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Travis Nelson, Jordan Nelson, and Levi Triplett all of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Embree, Braelyn, and Owen Nelson; step-daughter: Angela Moss and husband Marvin of Dallas, TX; step-grandchildren: Addy and Liam Moss of Dallas, TX; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Wanda Belfoire and husband Subby of York, NE; Susan Smith and husband Dick of Stuart, IA; Tom Wheeler of Clarinda, IA; Esther Wheeler of Villisca, IA; and Jenny Wheeler of Keller, TX; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held 3 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Arlington Cemetery near Villisca, Iowa.
