Motion Picture Screenwriter. He was co-awarded the 1982 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the motion picture "Missing". The screenplay, was adapted from the book "The Execution of Charles Horman: An American Sacrifice" by Thomas Hauser, was co-written with motion picture director Costa-Gavras, whom he shared the honor with. Later in his career he co-wrote the screenplays for the popular "Jack Ryan" action movie series that were adapted from the thriller novels written by Tom Clancy.
