Newspaper Article which includes photograph with the caption Jessie & Jannie Freeman: Simple gown with intricate detail still popular - Itasca, Texas Area, January-March 1988:
"JESSIE & JANIE FREEMAN: Married 1912 - Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Freeman were married in Hillsboro, Texas in 1912. Mrs. Freeman was Miss Janie Peadon, daughter of Joseph and Annie Peadon of Hillsboro.
Mr. Freeman started barbering with Mr. J. W. Stanley in Whitney before he married. Mr. and Mrs. Freeman had just one child, a daughter, Lily Ruth. Jessie had given his bride a beautiful ruby ring, which they later traded for a horse and buggy - just like young folks.
When Lily Ruth was nine years old the family moved to Itasca, where Jessie rented an apartment in the old Sumner Home across from the new bank. Jessie again worked with J. W. Stanley, who had also chosen "Itasca, the Big Little Town" to settle down in for life.
Later Mr. J. C. Duck and Jessie had a barber shop together. Lily Ruth grew up in Itasca and married Glen Irvin in 1937. They gave Jessie and Janie three daughters, of whom they were very proud. Lily Ruth and Jessie also had three grandsons, one granddaughter, three great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
Jessie Freeman was born in Woodbury March 13, 1888, and Janie March 29, 1895. They are both buried in the Itasca Cemetery.
This is a tribute written by Mrs. Glen Irvin to her father, Jessie Freeman, who would have been 100 years old in March."
