Lana was born in 1945 in Rahway, New Jersey to the late Fred Lombardo and Edith Marino Lombardo. She attended and graduated from Cranford High School in Cranford, New Jersey. After graduation, she met her love, the late John Ellis Williams Jr. They married on November 14, 1964 and would spend the next 55 years together until John’s passing in 2019.
Lana had a long career with Zutz Insurance in Wilmington, DE where she met many lifelong friends. After Zutz, Lana worked for the State of Delaware as a secretary for the Division of Health and Social Services. She retired from there in 2008.
After retirement Lana spent many years just being with her family. They would spend summers at the beach together, take trips to Williamsburg, and Disney. She was also a member of the YMCA in Bear where she spent several days a week enjoying exercise classes.
Lana’s greatest joys were her grandson John and granddaughter Kylie. She lived for every moment that she was with them. She enjoyed attending John’s lacrosse games and watching Kylie cheer and do gymnastics. To all their friends she was simply known as Mommom.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lana was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Michael and Concetta Vizzone, and sister and brother-in-law, Millie and Nick Mazza.
She is survived by her son, John E. Williams III and his wife Jennifer of Clayton, DE, grandson John, and granddaughter Kylie both of Clayton, DE, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 from 11am to 1pm at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. All attending will be required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing to maintain compliance with State COVID-19 Regulations. Admittance will be regulated. A Funeral Service and burial in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE will be held privately at a later date.
