Prior to that, she and her husband had been long-time residents of Eastview, Kentucky since 2004. There, they were beloved members of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church and were involved in many aspects of their church community.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert Stewart, a son, Gerald Stewart, a daughter, Mary Stewart, and her two sisters, Jessie (Kopp) Riebel, and Edith (Kopp) Eve Riesenberg,
She is survived by three children: Robin Ernst (Melvin) of Louisville, Brenda Patton (Timothy) of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and James Stewart of Louisville; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other extended family members.
Bonnie was a Licensed Practical Nurse graduating from Jefferson County School of Practical Nursing in 1971. Other than working with several hospitals in the Louisville area, her niche was working with elderly patients, and children. Her favorite hobbies were reading, sewing, ceramics and hand stitching and creating a multitude of specialty crafts including but not limited to Christmas stockings, ornaments, scrap books, dolls, and much more. All her special-made crafts always seemed to fit the receiver just-right, and they all contained that one special element of being made with her love.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 3 – 7pm at Highland’s Family Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd, Louisville, Kentucky 40205. Services will be held on Friday, February 26 at 10:00 am at Highlands and will be officiated by Pastor Brother David Stephens. The burial will follow at 12:30 pm at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 North Dixie Boulevard, Radcliff, KY 40160.
