A former Bardstown resident, Mrs. Elizabeth Jo Coulter age 78 passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Baptist Health of Louisville. She was born on July 4, 1942 in Bardstown to the late James Cripps and Evelyn Young Avis.


Elizabeth was a caregiver, former employee at several factories and restaurants. She was a member of River of Life Worship Center in Louisville, of the catholic faith and former Moose Lodge and Fraternity Order of Eagles in Louisville.


Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Helton, a niece Sherry Helton, brothers, Ronald Lee and Johnny Avis.


Elizabeth is survived by her former husband Ernest Leland Coulter, Sr., of Bardstown, 2 sons, Ernest Leland (Kimberly) Coulter, Jr., of Indiana, Thomas Edward "Tommy" (Sabrina) Coulter of Taylorsville, daughters, Charlotte Coulter of Shepherdsville, Karen Bristoe of Louisville, 3 sisters, Mary Ann Greenwell of Bardstown, Carolyn (Gene) Clark of New Haven, Sarah (Mark)Rogers of New Hope, 4 brothers, Richard (Carol) Avis of Bloomfield, Jerry (DeAnn) Avis, Pat (Belva) Avis, David (Jeana) Avis all of Bardstown, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Jo Coulter will be 11:00am, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 with Pastors Beth Allen and Lee Jellison officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00-8:00pm and Tuesday after 8:30am.
