Obituary -- Benjamin Holroyd was born in Meltham, England, February 18, 1829, and departed this life December 22, 1916, of old age, being 87 years, 10 months, 4 days. He was united in marriage to Sushannah Hisrst, September 8, 1854, who preceded him 3 years and 3 months. He was brought up in the Church of England. They came to Iowa in 1855 and to Ness County, Kansas, in 1878 with nine children. One son, George stayed in Iowa. All of the ten children are still living.
