She was born February 8, 1923 in Watervliet, N.Y.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Lilly Doust; her husband Honorable Carrol S. Walsh, Jr.; her son Honorable Thomas C. Walsh; her sisters Elizabeth Stewart and Marilyn Wasilenko; and her son-in-law Timothy J. Connolly.
She is survived by her children Terrence (Rosemary) of Sarasota, FL; Mary Sharon (Ronald) Salluzzo of Pittsford, N.Y.; and Elizabeth Connolly of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; her daughter-in-law Denise Walsh of Johnstown, N.Y., 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy, a graduate of Watervliet High School, earned a Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree from Russell Sage College in 1944.
She married Carrol S. Walsh, Jr. on February 5 of that year. In 1946, they settled in Johnstown, N.Y. where her husband started his law practice and she began raising and caring for their four children.
Always concerned with the welfare of others, Dorothy served on the Board of Directors of Willing Helpers Home, volunteered with the Johnstown Hospital and Wells House Auxiliary, the Bishop Burke High School parents' organization, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, and other community and youth organizations. She was a member of Coterie Club.
Her faith was exceptionally strong. She and her family were members of St. Patrick's Parish where all her children attended school. She loved Big Band music and dancing with Carrol at Sherman's, Caroga Lake and throughout their sixty-eight year marriage. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilt maker and fabric painter. Her cooking was always the highlight of family gatherings; her chocolate chip cookies were incomparable. Christmas was her special time but she also never missed sending birthday cards to all her family and friends to make them feel special. She was a woman of wise counsel. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and friend, her nurturing was of great comfort to all.
