Donald Louis Dean, 78, died Monday, January 18th, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Lebanon, Missouri, due to complications from Covid-19. Prior to his death he battled Parkinson’s Disease and Prostate Cancer. Don was born October 5, 1942, in Riverside, CA, to Ruby (Parker) Dean and Martin Dean. He attended schools in Indio, CA, and Riverside, CA, before moving to Melrose, NM, as a teenager. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1961. Following graduation Don was drafted into the U.S. Army and was eventually stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, serving with the Military Police Division. Upon honorable discharge he settled in Clovis, NM and later Amarillo, TX where he worked for Pacific Finance which later became Transamerica Finance. While in Amarillo, Don made a change in his profession and began a long career in the chemical and janitorial supply business. He returned to Clovis, NM, where he owned and operated Liberty 76, Inc. In 1980 Don moved the family to Palm Springs, CA, where he opened Sunbelt Chemicals, Inc. Don later resided in Las Vegas, NV; Roswell, NM; Forney, TX; and Waynesville, MO. He was preceded in death by both parents, his older brother, Martin (Junior); a son, Brian Dean; and grandson, Taylor Dean. He is survived by five children: Eric (Britta) Dean of Waynesville, MO; Lana (Randy) Litchfield of Canton, TX; Jarrod (Victoria) Dean of Snohomish, WA; Slade (Melissa) Dean of The Colony, TX; and Ashley Dean of Las Vegas, NV. Don is further survived by 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his brother, Harold Dean; sister, Aileen Eastwood and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the outdoor chapel at Coachella Valley Cemetery on February 8, 2021, at 11:00am.
