Ellen was born in Washington County, Indiana, and moved to Stafford. She graduated from Occoquan High School, where she was an avid athlete.
Ellen worked at Quantico Marine Corps Base where she met her husband. She managed the family farm, raised four children, three foster children, and cared for many grand and great-grandchildren. Ellen is responsible for starting girls softball in Spotsylvania County along with many other accomplishments. She supported numerous community programs such as the Shoe Fund, Fredericksburg Area Food Bank and providing many bicycles to the Salvation Army.
Survivors include her children, David, Vicki, and Ricky; grandchildren Jennifer, Ellen, Shane, David II, Robert, Tammy, and Cody; great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Hallie, Cierra, LCpl Dillon Craig, Kadence, Jonathon, Wyatt, Maecie, and Nora Grace; great-great grandchildren Valerie, Emy, Cooper, Meadow, Waylon, Bascom, and Laynie expected in July 2021; and her special friend, Margaret. She is preceded in death by her first born son, Buck and her husband of 68 years, Cabell.
A service will be held at noon on Tuesday, February 23 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
