Joseph Roy Bennett, age 90, of Oakley, Michigan passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Covenant Hospital, Saginaw, Michigan.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at McGeehan Funeral Home Martin Chapel. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw, Michigan. The family will receive visitors that day from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Joseph was born on March 10, 1930 to Glenn and Arlen (Duprey) Bennett in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in United States Air Force at the end of World War II. Joseph married Kay Bennett on December 9, 1967; she preceded him in death on June 28, 2004 after 36 years of marriage. He then married Janet Allen Norman on November 15, 2011; they celebrated 9 years of marriage last year.
Joseph was the owner of the Fox Bar in Chesaning, Michigan for several years. He also owned and operated Bennett Sales and Service, a full service gas station and car lot. Joseph was the president of the Concerned Racers 4 Wheel Drive Club for about 30 years, and he loved hosting mud bogs and sand drags. Joe always enjoyed traveling to Arizona and through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Kay Bennett; his children, Connie (Jim) Kinney, Michael (Beth) Bennett, Luann (Wayne) Alexander, Russell (Lori) Bennett, Lisa Devereaux, Patrick Harmon, and Sandy (Mike) Bennett; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great- grandchildren with two on the way; as well as many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pat, his second wife, Kay; his son, James Harmon; his granddaughter, Brandi; his parents; his brother, Don Bennett.
