She was predeceased by her husband, A Laughton Johnson; her parents, Adele and Achilles Garnett, Sr.; and her brother, Achilles Garnett, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Rev. R. Berkeley Garnett; nephews, Robert P. Garnett and George M. Garnett (Sherry); nieces, Patricia G. Bullock (Larry), Arlene G. White, Marsha G. Sharpe (Chuck), and Mary G. Winecoff (Tom); eight great nieces and nephews; and 10 great-great nieces and nephews. Ida Marian grew up in Beulahville, King William County and graduated from Madison College. From there she went to Goochland and taught Mathematics at the high School, retiring in 1976 after 30 years. It was in Goochland that she met and married Laughton in 1959. She moved to Hylandale Farm where she worked tirelessly alongside Laughton until his death in 1989. Ida Marian was a long time member of Berea Baptist Church where she served in many capacities and gave many hours to the church community. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 19, at 2:00 pm at the Berea Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
