Funeral services for Richard Hawkins were held Sept. 22, at 1 p.m., at Hyde Park Mortuary with Pastor Allen Threatt III of Arcadia officiating. He died Sept. 17.
Born Feb. 25, 1951 to Willie and Lillie Hawkins, he was the youngest of ten children. After graduating from Bearden High School, he then joined the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged Sept. 29,1976. Hawkins worked for a number of years at Tinker Air Force Base. Later he went to work for Boley Training School and the VA Medical Center.
Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include a son, Richard Charles Hawkins, Jr. of Boley and a daughter, Annie LaShawn Thornton of OKC; three sisters, Amanda Ellison, Helen Dunn, and Rosetta Henderson, all of OKC and one brother Tommie Hawkins of Denver, Colo.; one aunt, Orita Wright of OKC; nine grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers include nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers include James (Buck) Tryon, Cal Patterson, Richard Gordon, Charles Edwards, Linell Jenkins, Roy Tryon and Tony Haddox.
Flower bearers include friends and family.
Interment was held at St. Paul Cemetery under the direction of Hyde Park Mortuary, Boley.
