Augusta "Gussie" Behringer, 92, of Meridian, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in the Clifton Nursing and Rehab Center after a long illness. Services have been set for 2 p.m Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Augusta Ellen Damron, known to all her family and friends as Gussie, was born in Walnut Springs, Texas, to the late Ben Wood Damron and Mollie (Rosenquist) Damron. On March 7, 1937, she was united in marriage to Earl R. Behringer in Marlin. She was a long time resident of Meridian and worked as a seamstress for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Behringer,on Dec. 12, 1979; daughters, Earlene Behringer Lindsey and Kathlene Behringer; sons, Jimmy Behringer and Kenneth Behringer; and grandson, Earl Behringer.

Survivors include grandsons, Robert Behringer and wife, Patricia, of Meridian, Ben Behringer, of Meridian; Steven Wigington, of New Braunfels, John Wigington, of Waco, Phillip Wigington, of Gatesville; great-granddaughter, Liberty Ann Wigington; and a number of other relatives and friends.
