Lynda Denise (Woodward) Abell, born January 21, 1945 in McComb, Ohio to Leo and Virginia (Newbury) Woodward, passed away on February 14, 2021 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis L. Abell and her son, Bret Woodward Amos. She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1963. She married her first husband, Ray Amos and together they had four children. Lynda had a long and successful career with the U.S. Army Department of Defense. She retired after 39 years of service in 2013. She graduated with a masters degree in 2001 from Syracuse University. Surviving are her son, Jim (Donna) Amos, Van Buren, and daughters Tina (Trent) Tate, Reynoldsburg, OH and Joan Bush, Van Buren. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Morgan Sigler, James Amos, Andrew (Katie) Tate, Reilly Tate, Stephanie (Nick) Foster, Derek Bush, and Virginia Bush and great- grandchildren Colten, Natalie, Aaron, Elizabeth and Zachary. Also surviving are her sisters, Leslie (Larry) Hoadley, Findlay, OH, Lana Peaytt, Rawson, OH and her brother, Denis Woodward, Findlay, OH and many nieces and nephews. Lynda was an avid reader and shared that love with her children and grandchildren. She could often be found with a baby on her lap reading a story. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to share her love of reading and learning. A visitation will be held at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, OH on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Following cremation, a private burial will be at Bechtel Cemetery in Van Buren, Ohio.
