Burl Elwood Coffee, age 85 of Delaware, OH, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021, in Delaware. He was born April 16, 1935 in Greenup, KY to the late John and Nora (Nelson) Coffee.

Left to cherish Burl’s memory are his wife of 63 years, Ruth (Hagar) Coffee; sons: Burl L. (Susan), Michael (Elaine), David, and Matthew (Lisa) Coffee; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.

“All that is gold does not glitter”. Burl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a graduate of Berlin High School Class of 1953. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid golfer and barbecue chef (when they’re smokin’ they’re cookin’, when they’re black they’re done). He was a powerhouse engineer for Ohio Wesleyan University until retiring in 2001.

In addition to his parents, Burl was preceded in death by his brothers: Estel, William, Clyde, Chester, Leander, Kenneth, Bob, and James Coffee.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, OH. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Craig Richter officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware.
