August H. Veach, 62, of 3110 Leech Ave., died at a Sioux City hospital Tuesday after a long illness. Mr. Veach was born at Merriman, Neb., Sept. 4, 1912. He lived in Merriman and South Sioux City as a child. He moved to Sioux City at age 18 and had lived here since. Mr. Veach married Margie M. Frank June 3 1939 in Sioux City. He worked for the Johnson Biscuit Co. for a number of years and later for Burroughs Corp. He attended Grace Lutheran Church. Survivors include the widow; a son, Richard A. of Council Bluffs; two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Norma) Amundsen of Iowa City, and Mrs. Thomas (Peggy) Schuur of Sioux City; two brothers, Ira of Sioux City, and Glenn of Hillsboro, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Ben (Dorothy) Casper of Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. Marie Burright of Sioux City ; and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church under the direction of the Rev. Richard J. Kuckhahn. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home In Morningside. Pallbearers will be Ted and Robert Dickson, Clement Guillaume, Donald Gibb, Bernard Habben and DuWayne Rich.
