Billie Jean Brown, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at St. Mary's Health Center.
She was born December 15, 1943 in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Eugene Robert Brown and JoAnn (Cheatum) Brown.
She graduated in 1961 from Lincoln Lab High School.
Billie began working for Scholastic, Incorporated in 1968 and then was employed with Capital Projects. She worked there for 35 years before retiring in 2015.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished holiday dinners. Attending Moore Family Reunions was the highlight of her summers.
Billie was always excited to spend time with her Dunlap cousins from Chicago.
She enjoyed attending Friday Night Rec, going to camp and baking cakes with her nieces. Trips to Central Dairy with her niece Adriene and her daughters for chocolate ice cream was a special time.
She also enjoyed playing dominos with them.
She loved to laugh and play jokes on people.
Collecting pictures and receiving cards in the mail was always a treat.
Billie had an impeccable memory and never forgot a person's name or birthday.
She enjoyed talking on the phone with her sister Linda and niece Jackie.
She was a member of Dunavant AME Zion Church. She loved Sunday School, singing in the choir, and ushering. She later attended Second Christian Church.
Billie is survived by her sister, Linda Rucker of Sarasota, Florida; nieces Jackie and Sue Kelly of Jefferson City, Jacqueline Weeks (Jamaal) of Sarasota, Florida and Adriene Hubbard of Warren, Michigan; Aunt Peg Williams of Jefferson City; special cousins Venita Jackson and Margo Williams; a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and her very special friends and staff at Delaware Group Home.
She is preceded in death by her brother Udell Warren and sister Arlene Kelly.
Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.
Home Going Celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m with the Reverend Vicky Bundy officiating.
