A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was Co-Owner & Operator of Reese Trailer Sales in Mills River. He was a 1977 graduate of Western Carolina University, receiving his BS Degree in Business and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church.
He was a dedicated husband and dad who was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. Gary as we all know, loved people, his work, and would give you the shirt off his back and will be missed by everyone.
Gary was a son of the late Ralph Wesley Long and Mae Greene Long.
Surviving are his wife whom he married in 1980, Pamela Weatherford Long of the home; daughter, Brittany Long and son, Blake Long both of Fletcher; sister, Lisa Long of Asheville; brothers, Stephen Long and Charles Long (Deborah) all of Asheville and Alan Long (Donna) of Marion and two nieces.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Norris Wright officiating.
